RESULTS: Monday Night Raw Apr. 7, 1997

Jim Ross: Fans, we have a special treat for you. As you know, Ahmed Johnson could someday be on his way back to the WWF! He's the WCW World Champion right now and tonight, he's going to give a return match to the former champion, Eddie Guerrero. Let's take a look at that match, as it happens... LIVE on Monday Nitro!

The scene opens up to show Terry Shavonte, Mike Tenay, and Larry Zbysko on the set of WCW Monday Night Nitro.

Terry Shavonte: "WELCOME EVERYONE TO THE SECOND HOUR OF MONDAY NIGHT NITRO! I'm Terry Shavonte with Mike Tenay and the LIVING LEGEND Larry Zbysko."

Zybsko does his salute.

Terry Shavonte: "Welcome everyone from WWF Monday Night RAW. This is a historic night for the two federations with the first telecast via satelite from one federation to the other."

Tenay: "Well, if you'll remember Tony, a few months ago, a youngster by the name of Corey Major signed a one day contract to battle then World Champion GIANT and the match was telecasted but it is still a HUGE night!"

Zbysko: "LET'S JUST GET TO THE MATCH ALREADY!"

In the ring, Senior referee Nick Patrick checks both men for weapons and then calls for the bell. Eddie circles Ahmed before the two lock up. Ahmed gains the early strength advantage which was expected from the two. Ahmed tosses Guerrero aside but Guerrero quickly jumps back up and knife-edges Johnson before taking his arm and tossing on an armbar. Guerrero quickly Irish Whips Johnson into the ropes...AND AHMED CATCHES HIM IN A SPINEBUSTER! Ahmed made him pay for that mistake! He picks him up and spins him freely into the air and catches him in a backbreaker and pushes down HARD on Guerrero's neck and stomach! Patrick warns Ahmed before releasing the effective hold. Johnson begins pounding Guerrero in the head but Guerrero quickly gets a thumb into the eye of the World Champion. He grabs the neck of Johnson AND GIVES HIM A SPINNING NECKBREAKER! What an unexpected move!

Tenay: "Guerrero certainly puts emphasis on that Spinning Neckbreaker doesn't he?"

Shavonte: "He certainly does Mike."

Taking advantage of the shock from the neckbreaker, Guerrero climbs to the top rope as Ahmed begins to stir around. He bides his time and Ahmed stands up...HURRICARANA! Guerrero hooks the legs! 1..2..KICKOUT!

Tenay: "We nearly had a new World Champion!"

Guerrero begins to punnish Ahmed with vicious right and left blows to the face before Ahmed pounds Guerrero in the stomach..LIFTING HIM OFF THE GROUND! Ahmed works his way back to his feet as the two get into a vicious battle of fist-a-cuffs! Guerrero manages to slip in a block and really lays into Johnson with some lefts before booting him in the stomach, doubling him over. Guerrero raises his chin...AND NAILS HIM with a big knife edge to the chest. Eddie shoots him into the ropes...AND IS CAUGHT IN ANOTHER SPINEBUSTER! That one looks like it did it's damage as Guerrero is lying on the mat, holding his spine. Faarooq Assad climbs over the guard rail and creeps through the ropes. Ahmed picks him up and hooks the arms...HE'S GOING FOR THE PEARL RIVER PLUNGE! All of a sudden, Faarooq drops referee Nick Patrick on his neck. Ahmed turns around to see what the noise was when Faarooq DROP KICKS Ahmed to the mat! Faarooq picks Ahmed up and begins delivering vicious blows and takes advantage of catching Ahmed off guard. He boots Ahmed in the stomach...AND GIVES HIM THE TIGER BYTE! Ahmed is droped to the mat as Faarooq jumps out of the ring as Ahmed's WCW allie, JOHNNY B. BADD, rushes down the aisle and chases Faarooq through the stands. Johnny B. Badd stops at the rails as Faarooq makes his way up to the top of the crowd. Guerrero begins to stir around and begins to make his way to the turnbuckles. He climbs up to the top...AND LEAPS FOR THE FROGGY SPLASH! AHMED ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY! Guerrero lands flat on his stomach..knocking the breath out of him! Nick Patrick stirs around as Ahmed picks up the lifeless Guerrero and sets him up for the Plunge! He points up to Faarooq Assad who is still standing up at the top watching the action closely. Ahmed hooks the arms...AND DELIVERS THE PLUNGE! He covers..1...2...3! It's over!

Winner and still WCW World Heavyweight Champion: Ahmed Johnson

He calls for the mic and his 2-x-4.

Ahmed: "Faarooq! In TWO weeks! SPRING STAMPEDE! The Pearl River Power House is going to give you the fight of his f<beep>ing life! FAAROOQ...YOU'RE..GOIN..DOWN! YOU'RE..GOIN.DOWN!"

The crowd gets in behind Ahmed as he chants and pounds his feet into the mat.

Mike Tenay: "Well, it looks like Faarooq is going to have his hands full in challenging Ahmed Johnson for that prestigious Heavyweight Belt."

Terry Shavonte: "Well, to all of our WWF viewers, this is Tony Shavonte with Larry Zbysko and Mike Tenay saying SO LONG from the O-Rena in Orlando, Florida!"
