ROXANNE
Roxanne is moving up a hallway in a familiar apartment building. She stops outside of a door and knocks....
voice: Just a minute!
Corey Major answers the door, wearing sweat pants and a 'Heart Attack' t-shirt. He looks happy to see Roxanne... then the look on his face shows a bit of fear.
Roxanne: Good to see that you're dressed. We have to talk.
Roxanne invites herself in and takes a seat on the edge of the menacing sofa. Corey closes the door slowly and looks at Roxanne. She has a serious look on her face. Corey takes a seat across from her on the foot stool.
Corey: Yeah?
Roxanne: I think you know! What happened yesterday? What's going on?
Corey: You mean Sabrina? Look, I can explain...
Roxanne: THAT'S what I'm HOPING! I thought we talked about stuff like this! Corey... YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER!
Corey: Whoa! Hold on! I'm a grown-up. I can make my own decisions. Besides... I'm doing this for the Harts.... and YOU!
Roxanne: Corey, I should be touched... but I think YOU'RE the one that's touched... with INSANITY!!
Corey: You SAID I should get someone to help out my career!
Roxanne: We were talking about WILD CHYLDE! What happened there?
Corey: Still a prospect! I talked to her.... even about this Sabrina offer.
Roxanne: (looking victorious) And what did SHE say?
Corey: She said... it's MY decision!
Roxanne: (suprised.... ) Oh. (thinks) Corey... I don't know how Bret and the Anvil feel... but I know that I can take care of myself. You don't need to make any kind of deal with Sabrina and her crew.
Corey: Look, I may be able to SOLVE this. I can make a PEACE! If she breaks her end of the bargain, I call it all off! Heck, Roxanne, if I DON'T do this, they're going to pull some stunts on you guys anyway! If I can prevent it... or just delay it... then I WILL!
Roxanne: You may lack experience... but you don't lack courage or valor. (she smiles) Corey... she STOLE MONEY from Derrick! She'll do it from YOU, too!
Corey: Money's not important. As long as I get at least what I'm making now... just enough to get by....
Roxanne looks around the apartment with a little bit of shock. It's a MESS!
Corey: Then I'm HAPPY! If she steals... or messes up in ANY WAY... then the DEAL IS OFF! Roxanne, I've got NOTHING to lose! And I've got a LOT to gain!
Roxanne: Tell me. Corey... TELL ME. WHAT do you have to gain? Experience? Money? Promotions? Corey... you can get that from some TRUSTWORTHY sources! You even said Wild Chylde is still a possibility!
Corey: Yeah... I can get that elsewhere. But just think.... I may be able to get them to clean up their act! It MAY not happen, but it MAY! I've GOT to TRY! I'm not turning my back on ANY of my friends OR my FANS! I'll NOT DO that!
Roxanne looks deeply at him.... REALLY thinking... contemplating. Corey smiles at her, really trying to convice her. She's doesn't look swayed, but she tries to hide her TRUE feelings.
Roxanne: Corey... it's just.... it's SABRINA! You know what she did to Derrick! He's NOT a bad guy... I was right all along! It was HER! She could do the same to YOU!
Corey: People change. You always said... give people a chance. She can change. PEOPLE can change.
Roxanne: I just don't want YOU to change... for the worse.
Corey: I won't! I PROMISE!
Roxanne: (again, hiding his displeasure) Fine. Just do this much... THINK IT OVER! Don't RUSH IN! Talk to Bret... and the Anvil. Talk to the Sensei. Corey... talk to ANYONE! Just give it thought! Promise?
Corey: I promise.
Roxanne: Corey... REALLY... PROMISE!
Corey: (looks at her) Roxanne... I PROMISE! I MEAN it.
Roxanne stands up and puts her hand on his shoulder... then turns and walks out. The camera pulls back away, showing Corey resting his head down on his hand, really concerned. The camera fades out.
