WWF Superstars, May 31, 1997

The camera shows the ring, which is filled up with WWF superstars. Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross stand in the ring with microphones, as the camera pans around showing WWF President Roddy Piper, Jim Neidhart, The Ultimate Warrior, Heart Attack, Sting, Corey Major, Roxanne and other WWF stars.

Jim Ross: Well, we're here to have a bit of a "ceremony", for lack of a better term. King, why don't you explain it to the people?

Jerry Lawler: I will, JR! Peons, we're here today for a VERY special occasion! That being the farewell of my buddy, the man that brought me here to the WWF, and I'm talking about Double J! Now as you can see, some high profile people are here with us to help give Double J a proper send off. But before we bring him out here, as a bit of a going away present, I've gotten another high profile person to put together a little tribute! So as Bob Costas does the narrating -

Jim Ross: Bob Costas?!?

Jerry Lawler: You check out the video package!

Jim Ross: How do you know Bob Costas?

Jerry Lawler: Shut up and watch, JR!

The video wall starts up, as the fans at home get the full screen effect. Jeff Jarrett is seen walking along the streets of Nashville as the tribute starts.

Bob Costas: Athletisicm . . . perserverence . . . determination . . . ability . . . greatness. These are words used to describe the top men in the sporting business. Men who's dedication to the sport they love, and the legacy that they leave, will be remembered by fans for years to come. Today, here on WWF Superstars Revenge, we're going to take a look at one such competitor. From Music City, USA . . . "Double J" Jeff Jarrett!

The video shows a quick flashing of Jeff Jarrett in the ring, including his matches with Mr. Perfect, Shawn Michaels, Sting, Bret Hart, The Giant, Diesel, The Undertaker, Razor Ramon, The Blizzard, and others.

Bob Costas: Today marks the final appearance of a wrestler who has been one of the most flamboyant, colorful, entertaining, and all around technically skilled to grace the World Wrestling Federation in years. Jeff Jarrett has worked hard for what he's gotten out of wrestling over the years, through the good times . . . and the bad.

The action changes to Double J coming out to ringside, and getting a loud ovation from the crowd. Jarrett is then seen walking to ringside in an nWo t-shirt, swinging at the booing fans. Double J is shown standing with the Hart Foundation, facing Vader and Demolition. And he's then shown leaving the War Games match at Survivor Series.

The clips continue showing the different sides of Double J, including him coming to the ring with Sunny, Jarrett's walking arm and arm with Pamela Anderson, and then holding the ropes for Elizabeth as they enter the ring.

Bob Costas: Here today, Double J steps into the ring to fight his final battle . . . his final battle against his most HATED rival. His former friend and now bitter enemy . . . the man they call VADER!

Footage is shown of Jarrett and Vader going at it on Superstars back in 1996. They are then shown walking to the ring together, wearing nWo colors and grinning with sly smiles. Jarrett and Vader are shown teaming up against the Hart Foundation, and then the music of the package changes.

Jarrett is seen standing over Jim Cornette from Raw, as Vader rushes in from behind and begins to assault him. The clips go faster, showing the attacks both men have leveled over recent months. Demolition is seen jumping Jarrett at Qualify: 97, and then Jarrett's reaction after the event.

Finally, the footage shows Jarrett vs. Vader from the first TNT, as Jarrett wrapped Vader in the Figure Four and got not only the win, but the Intercontinental Title.

Bob Costas: The history between the two men runs deep, and in a Chamber of Horrors match they will try to settle their differences once and for all. But no matter the outcome, the sport of wrestling loses a true star today. The legend and the niche that Jeff Jarrett has carved for himself in the memory of wrestling fans worldwide will live on . . . forever.

The music begins to fade, as Double J is shown standing back on the streets of Nashville.

Double J: That's J...E...Double F! J...A...Double R...E...Double T! Double J Jeff Jarrett!

Jarrett smiles at the camera, and his teeth gleam as the screen fades out to black, and then back to the arena.

Jerry Lawler: OH! That was beautiful! We've waited long enough, here he is! Double J Jeff Jarrett!!

Double J's country theme begins to play, as the crowd rises up to their feet! The Roadie comes through the curtain first, followed by Elizabeth, and then Jarrett steps through. Double J makes his way up the aisle, in his blinking white outfit, and slaps ALL hands as he nears ringside.

Jarrett climbs up onto the ring, holds the ropes for Elizabeth, and then steps through the ropes.

Jerry Lawler: Cameraman, zoom in! Get a good shot of this!

Double J motions everyone aside as he struts down center ring, ending with his arms raised over his head. As he finishes, white fireworks pop over the ring as the crowd cheers!

Jerry Lawler: Double J, just for me, pal . . . tell 'em who it is!

Double J: Hello, folks! It's ol' Double J again! That's J...E...Double F! J...A...Double R...E...Double T! The world's greatest singer, the world's greatest entertainer, the world's greatest wrestler . . . and the world's greatest ACTOR, King! Ha Ha Ha!

Jerry Lawler: Ha Ha Ha Ha! You're greater than great, Double J!

The Ultimate Warrior steps up to the mic. Jim Ross: The Ultimate Warrior would like to say something.....

Warrior: I know Jeff has had his bad times and his good. But, I know that he is one of the greatest wrestlers that I've ever faced. Jeff Jarrett is one of the best technical wrestlers in the sport. I hate to see him go. I don't think that there are any words that I can express that I can say to summarize the effect that Double J has had on the Sport of wrestling. Through the good times and the bad, from the early days, to the present, you have been a great competitor. Double J, I would just like to say thank you for giving ME all of the memories and experiences. Good bye and Good luck Double J.

Double J and the Warrior shake hands, and the fans cheer.

Jim Ross: Jeff, right now we've got some comments to show you from a person that was unable to join us here today.

The video wall springs back to life, showing The Blizzard. His face is still busted up, but he is smiling.

Blizzard : "Hey Double J. I think it's obvious why I am not with you guy's right now. But that doesn't mean that I don't wanna wish you good luck and the best in your new career.

Blizzard: Double J...it was an honor working with you. I hope you do good in the movies...but when you come back...your'e gonna have to give me a piece of you. Cause I never got that rematch. (Blizzard smiles). Blizzard: Anyway...good luck...and have a great time. You earned it.

(Blizzard claps for Double J as his camera fades).

Jerry Lawler: Now go on and say a few things, Double J!

Double J: OK, King! Folks, I've just got a few things to say here today. First of all, I want you all to know that just because I'm leaving the wrestling game for a while, that doesn't mean that I've forgotten about all my fans! It's YOU that I owe the biggest thanks to, as without all the support I've gotten, not only would I not have won the I/C title, but I also might have left quite a while back for Hollywood . . . and for GOOD.

Double J: But none of that is gonna happen. I WILL be back, right here in the WWF, before long. And when I do, fans all around the world will know that they're in for another great show!

Double J: And I'd like to thank you guys here for coming out today. Sting, Warrior, Anvil, everyone. I thank you all. And Blizzard, thanks for your comments, too. So . . . uh . . . Piper, if that's it, then I guess I've got something to sign.

Roddy Piper pulls out papers, contracts, which he hands to Jarrett. The King ducks down as Jarrett signs his name on the papers, using Lawler's back for support. Jarrett hands the papers back to Piper, looking him in the eye.

Double J: You know, there's somethin' I've been waiting to say to you for quite a while, Piper...
