THE COUNTDOWN TO WRESTLEMANIA IV


FROM THE TORONTO SKYDOME IN TORONTO, CANADA - MARCH 1ST 1997

(Todd is in the WWF Event Center. The WrestleMania logo is spinning around over his head and it comes to a stop. The number '4' appears next to it and morphs into a Roman numeral. Todd looks up at the camera.)

Todd: Hey wrestling fans... it's me... STONE COOL, Todd Pettingill! Wrestling fans... we are just 29 days away from WrestleMania IV! This is going to be the BIG shebang! This is the grand-daddy event of 'em all! NOTHING can top WrestleMania... and this year will be no exception! And have I got some NEWS for you for this one! Let's go now to the President of the WWF, Rowdy Roddy Piper.

(Piper is shown off on the side of the Event Center. He is wearing a WrestleMania 2 t-shirt and his kilt. He also has the Intercontinental Title draped over his shoulder.)

Piper: Badd Boy Derrick Stardom has officially forfeited the Intercontinental Title, rather then take a cheap win over Razor Ramon, who was unable to compete. The guy's got a lot of pride and honor, and I may not like some of the things he's said and done in the past, he did the right thing here tonight.

Piper: So the Intercontinental Title is right now VACANT. But it ain't gonna be that way for very long. We're setting up a tournament to crown a new champion, and soon enough, you'll find out just WHO is IN the tournament. It's invitation only folks, so don't go hoggin up the phone lines, ready to plead your case. The only thing that IS certain right now is that the new champion WILL be crowned at WrestleMania IV. That's it.

(Todd comes back on.)

Todd: WOW! A new Intercontinental Champion WILL be crowned at WrestleMania IV! Well, as you are hearing this broadcast, even now the Official WrestleMania WebSite is going up for you to check out. It will have ALL of the late-breaking news for this event, so go check it out!

(The screen shows the ring... with a scaffold over it... 30' in the air! Four Title Belts appear on the screen.)

Todd: It's the Scaffold Match for the Unified World Tag Team Titles! The Harlem Heat will defend their belts against.... the Legion of Doom, the Road Warriors! This feud has been long in the making, and Piper feels that the only way to settle this is through sheer brutality! And fans, NOTHING is more brutal then falling 30' to a possible career ending injury!

(The screen switches to show beautiful illustrations of Macho Man Randy Savage and Nature Boy Ric Flair.)

Todd: Speaking of career ending... we WILL see a career end! When WrestleMania's dust clears, either Randy Savage or Ric Flair will RETIRE FOREVER from the sport! This bout goes WAY beyond title belts... this is a LIFETIME of achievement, all on the line in one match! These two guys HATE each other... and wrestling isn't big enough for the both of them!

(Todd's face comes back on the screen.)

Todd: Here's another match, just added to WrestleMania! After the events that transpired here tonight and what has been going on in recent weeks on the WWF T.V. network, a TAG TEAM match has been signed for WrestleMania IV. It will pit... the Hart Foundation against.... Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brian Pillman! And from what I hear... look for Sabrina SAVAGE to be in the corner of Austin and Pillman! Can you imagine the INTENSITY that these four men will bring to the ring! The sheer HATRED they have for one another! Wrestling fans... THIS is wrestling... and this is ONE HOT FEUD!

(Images of Womankind and Roxanne move around the screen. A question mark is in the center.)

Todd: If YOU know what an Exorcism match is... FILL ME IN! But regardless, Womankind and Roxanne will be involved in one at WrestleMania! This will be the first time Roxanne and Womankind will be in a ring together, with no other wrestlers around since Womankind nearly ended Roxanne's career with the feared Figure Four Leg Lock! Will history repeat itself? And will it be for the Women's title? Womankind has another chance at the gold this Monday Night!

(Todd's face returns.)
