DOUBLE J JEFF JARRETT
'With My Baby Tonight' starts to play! The fans rise up and turn toward the entryway as Double J comes out to a nice ovation! He struts down the aisle and into the ring. His light show spins notes around on the canvas. He motions for Howard Finkel to step aside and then does his strut down the center. He then takes the mic.
JEFF: Hello, folks! I promised you that I'd be making a big announcement once the dust settled from WrestleMania, and tonight's the big night. So please bear with me for a bit, cause I got some stuff to get off my chest.
JEFF: You know, folks, ever since I came back to the WWF, it seems as if I just can't catch a break around here. I right away take a loss to the Undertaker, the very man that put me out of action. That loss puts me out of the IC title tournament. But I go on, and face the WWF Champion Diesel that weekend on Superstars. And, once again, I take another loss. But it's against the WWF Champion. I didn't feel too bad about that.
JEFF: Then, I go onto Raw again that week and team with Vader against the Hart Foundation, knowing that if we win, we'll get a Tag Title shot. Well, as I'm sure you all know, I lost that match for my team. In one week, I'd blown my chance at the IC title . . . the World title, since I couldn't beat the Champion in a non-title match . . . and the Tag titles. I don't care who you are, when that happens to you, you start to take another look at your entire situation.
JEFF: And I looked at my situation in the WWF, and it didn't look too good. My chances at the Tag Titles were gone. I couldn't beat Diesel in a non-title match, so if I wanted a shot at him, I'd have to wait through all the guys that are ranked at the top. The IC title finals were still about a month away, and the chances I'd get my shot at the winner were bleak too, even though I'm certainly deserving of a shot. It's the higher ranked guys that get shots, and I'm still paying for things I've done before, so my rankings are dismal to say the least.
JEFF: But around that same time, I get dropped on my head a few times by Sting. Sting is one of the best, and most underrated stars in the WWF today. I figure, "Hey, with a win over him, I'll shoot myself right into a contending position!" So I go to WrestleMania, first match of the show. Pamela Anderson in my corner. The fans behind me. And, yet again, I can't get the job done, and I take a loss to Sting. Coming off of that, it makes what I'm gonna tell you all a bit easier to understand, but it doesn't make it anymore easy to say.
JEFF: While all this was happening, as you all know, I was doing some dealing out in Hollywood, doing movies and TV and the like. And out there, I've got my shots! I've got things I can be proud of! I've got an opportunity to do something, other than let everybody down. So right now, here on Monday Night Raw . . . it's with a heavy heart that I inform the fans of the WWF . . . that effective June 1st, I will indeed be leaving the World Wrestling Federation to persue my career in acting. Thank you for listening, and thanks for your time.
(A hush goes over the crowd for a few moments. Then the fans start getting vocal, pleading Double J to not give up. A chant goes out for JARRETT!! JARRETT!! JARRETT!!)
(Jarrett sets the microphone down and prepares to leave the ring, but suddenly, Jim Cornette comes down the aisle, looking extremely upset! Cornette climbs into the ring and grabs the microphone from the mat.)
CORNETTE: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold on a minute here! What do you mean, you're leaving the WWF?!? I've got you under contract, pal, in case you've forgotten! You're not going anywhere with out my say so!
JEFF: YOU hold on, Cornette! You don't have me under anything that I can't -
CORNETTE: You're not a manager! You don't worry about what kind of contract you're under! You just listen to what I'm telling you! And what is with you lately, anyway? I've been doing my best to help you out, but you keep throwing it away! And exactly what side of the fence are you standing on now, Jeff? Who's side are you on, cause I don't know anymore!
JEFF: Cornette, just calm yourself down. You know that I've been -
(Cornette steps into Jarrett's face and begins poking his chest. The fans begin to boo.)
CORENTTE: Don't you tell me to calm down! I'm telling you RIGHT NOW that you aren't going anywhere without my say so! And you can damn well bet that I'm not letting you go anywhere while you're under contract with me!
(Jarrett swats Cornette's hand away. All the fans are standing now.)
JEFF: Take your hands off me, Cornette! Who do you think you're dealing with here? You don't come up and start pokin' me!
CORNETTE: You're gonna smart off to me? I'm James E. Cornette! I can do whatever I please! If you don't like me putting my hands on you, you're just gonna have to get used to it!
(Cornette again starts poking Jarrett's chest. Jarrett forcefully smacks
Cornette's hand away! The fans are urging Jarrett on!)
JEFF: Who do you think you are, Cornette? I told you NOT to poke me!
CORNETTE: Oh, you don't like that, do you? Well, how do you like THIS?
(Cornette rears back . . . AND SLAPS JARRETT! Jarrett holds his face for a second, looking stunned! But then Jarrett reares back . . . AND SHOVES CORNETTE DOWN! The fans in the Fleet Center ERUPT! Jarrett bends down to pick up the microphone, but from the aisle . . . comes VADER!! Vader charges down, and Jarrett doesn't see him! A panicked reaction comes from the crowd as they try to warn Jarrett.)
JEFF: Cornette, you can take your contracts and whatever else you got and SHOVE 'EM! Cause I QUIT!
Jarrett throws down the microphone, as Vader slides into the ring and attacks. He pounds on Double J with body shots and shots to the head, and then throws Jarrett into the corner where he charges in with an avalance! AND THEN ANOTHER! Vader then climbs up on the ropes...and hits a Vader Bomb!!! Cornette cheers him on and calls for another Bomb!!!
The fans start looking toward the dressing rooms... but no one comes out to help!!! Vader begins to pump for his VADER BOMB!!! Then... the fans start to look up!!! IT'S STING!! HE'S REPELLING DOWN FROM THE RAFTERS!!! He gets about 20 feet above the ring... Vader is ready to Vader Bomb a motionless Jarrett... STING LEAPS OFF.... AND DROPKICKS VADER OFF THE TURNBUCKLES!! THE FANS ARE GOING NUTS!!
JR: MY GOD!!! WHAT A MOVE!! HE JUST HIT A 20 FOOT DROPKICK FROM THE RAFTERS!!! I'LL BE SUPRISED IF EITHER OF THEM GETS UP FROM THAT!!!
Sting gets UP!!!! He reaches over to Jarrett... and PULLS HIM TO HIS FEET! Jarrett looks hurt... but he's standing!!! Sting leaves the ring... and disappears into the crowd! Jim Cornette gets Vader up and helps him out. Vader is holding his head, feeling the effects of that wicked dropkick. A few ring officials come down to help Jarrett out, who holds his chest in pain. The fans cheer for him and he manages to reach out and slap a gloved hand or two.
