KING OF THE RING REPORT
The control center is alive with various monitors glowing with footage from various events around the world. Technicians rush around behind the seated Dok Hendriks, who is wearing an official KOTR baseball hat. He adjusts his notes in front of him. A King of the Ring graphic expands onto the screen just over his right shoulder.
Dok: HELLOOOOOO wrestling fans! We are inside 19 days until the eagerly anticipated King of the Ring Pay-per-view! And this card is starting to form into one of the better ones!
Dok: Let's talk first about the tournament itself! EIGHT of the toughest and most skilled wrestlers in the WWF will be competing for one of the most prestigious prizes in all of sports... the King of the Ring title! Let's quickly run down some of the matches!
The wrestlers images appear on the screen as Dok mentions them.
Dok: Flash Funk...the Royal Rumble record setter, and a man with only ONE loss since January, will be facing Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Royal Rumble WINNER! It's a high-flier against an out and out BRAWLER! The winner of this match could shoot all the way to the finals with their stamina and endurance.
Dok: The winner of that match will face.... the winner of the JoBo/Scott Hall encounter. Now here's a match that has EXPLODED into a major FEUD! The wild, uncontrollable JoBo assaulted Mr. Scott Hall, hitting the Mirnyy Driver on him outside of the ring and put him in the hospital! Hall retaliated just recently... and after Taylor Tech had already done a number on JoBo, Hall jumped in and beat the helpless rookie, putting HIM in the hospital.
Dok: If JoBo DOES compete at the King of the Ring, it is almost definite that he will NOT be at 100% thanks to this heinous act from Taylor Tech and in particular, Scott Hall. Now recently, on the WWF Hotline, Jesse Ventura addressed some situations involving injuries and fines and suspensions. This blatant attack by Hall has given him a big advantage at the King of the Ring. I'm wondering if Titan Tower will allow this action... this uncalled for sneak attack.... to perhaps pave the way to Hall's winning the King of the Ring.
Dok: There's MORE! A big underdog in the tournament.... Stevie Ray, will be facing one of the heavy favorites.... STING! Both of these men have had MAJOR success in the tag team ranks throughout their career. Sting is a former THREE time tag team champion, and Stevie was one half of the team that UNIFIED the WCW and WWF tag titles! Sting has scouted Stevie Ray at recent matches.... but recently, his mind has been in a bit of turnoil it seems... with decisions and changes of direction. Tomorrow night on Wednesday Night Raw, we'll hear from Sting and perhaps we can see just HOW he will enter the tournament in three weeks.
Dok: And of course, the big re-match from WrestleMania IV.... the Giant against Big Daddy Cool, Diesel! Diesel is the current King of the Ring and former MR. EVERYTHING in the singles division. The Giant has an undefeated streak TEARING into this match and is one half of the tag team champions, along with Terry Taylor. During that streak, the Giant has defeated the World Champion... the I/C champion...and everyone ELSE in his path. Diesel and the Giant is the Main Event of the first round.... and as Jim Ross would say... it'll be a slobber knocker!
Dok: Also on the card... a NO-DISQUALIFICATION MATCH between the Hart Foundation and Demolition! Recently, Demolition took it upon themselves to PUNISH the Harts for losing the tag team titles. This WOULD have been a title match, had the Harts not... 'dropped' the gold to Money, Inc. So Ax and Smash burst into the Harts dressing room, just one night after their brutal match with the Giant and Taylor... and in a cloud of fog, bashed them down with their spiked gloves. Demolition WAS seriously fined for their actions.... just like the Enforcers were for their attack on the Road Warriors that same night. The Hitman and Anvil are in a bad way.... and I've seen that before. When the Harts get mad... they get EVEN! It'll be a WAR at the King of the Ring... and Demolition has one of the best field generals going... James E. Cornette!
Dok: And finally, this match just recently proposed by the Women's Champion, Roxanne... a STRETCHER MATCH between her and Womankind, her old nemesis. Hopefully we'll get Womankind's response to this... but I'm willing to bet she'll accept... THAT'S how bad she wants to...'save' Roxanne. They had a heckuva match at WrestleMania IV in the Exorcism Match. And a match like a STRETCHER MATCH... well... that could change a CAREER!
Dok: It all happens on June 15.... FATHER'S DAY! And speaking of FATHERS.... I guess Ted DiBiase will be at ringside to see how well his daughter listens to him. King of the Ring! It seems to have it ALL! Providence Civic Center in Rhode Island.... tickets are still available... DON'T MISS IT!!!
